What kind of results?
It’s important to have realistic expectations of what cosmetic surgery can offer you. During the consultation Dr. Thompson will discuss your goals and explain how best to meet them. For example, with facelift surgery we strive to achieve natural-looking results, leaving the patient with a refreshed, appropriate appearance.
Am I a good candidate for cosmetic surgery?
The best candidates are psychologically stable people who are physically healthy and of normal weight. Patients with firm, elastic skin tend to achieve the best results, while older patients with diminished skin elasticity may not achieve the same results as a younger patient but still may see significant improvement.
How much pain?
Surgery is performed under either a local or general anesthetic, so pain is either minimized or completely controlled. Post-operatively we will work with you carefully to make you as comfortable as possible.
How long is recovery?
Recovery time depends greatly on the type of procedure you have. For a facelift, most people can return to normal activities after 2 weeks. For tummy tuck or abdominoplasty surgery, your activity is commonly reduced for 2 to 4 weeks following surgery, depending on the extent of surgery. After breast augmentation, most people can return to work and resume most activities within 3 to 7 days. For any surgery, you should not undertake vigorous exercise for two weeks after surgery. Dr. Thompson will clearly explain the recovery period for your procedure.
Is there any risk?
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with cosmetic surgery. During your consultation, Dr. Thompson will carefully explain the particular risks associated with your procedure. In the event complications arise, Dr. Thompson has the experience and caring manner to see you through any difficulties.
How much does it cost?
Cosmetic surgery is not covered by Provincial Medical Insurance. During your consultation, Dr. Thompson will provide you with complete pricing information.
Do you offer financing?
You can pay for your procedures through Visa or Mastercard. Personal cheques and cash are also accepted.
