Male Breast Reduction

A male breast reduction reduces the appearance of large breasts (gynecomastia) in men. By contouring the breasts and creating a more defined chest, male breast reductions are very effective procedures.

Larger male breast size is a condition that affects a significant number of men, some of whom are overweight. Liposuction alone may give an adequate improvement if the breasts are mainly fat.

If true gynecomastia is present (increased fibro-glandular tissue), an incision at the areola margin is typically used to do an open excision. These scars are usually not very noticeable. Sometimes it is necessary to remove excess skin and that produces more scarring.

Nipple areas are often numb after surgery. Contours may not be perfectly smooth.

Most patients find they experience discomfort for up to a month and notice swelling around the area for up to four months.
